‘The Yellow Mulberry Tree’ by Molly Grad

We are pleased to have assisted in creating this fantastic exhibition experience, by artist Molly Grad, curated by Huma Kubakci.

The exhibition unfolds as a story following the yellow trail. Visitors enter through a 40m long dark corridor. Dramatically illuminated yellow ribbon along the full length of corridor leads to the central exhibition space. Bright evenly illuminated white cube (skylights fill the space with natural light during daytime) provides a backdrop for powerful art pieces, highlighted further by dedicated wall-wash and accent light luminaires. The journey completes with an intimate space completely enclosed in black, occupied by a single display composed of beautifully crafted oversized sunflowers. Sunflowers emerge from a baren land, aspiring towards the source of light coming from above.

‘Follow the yellow trail – an embedded path of violence collective trauma has left within our urban landscape.
The Yellow Mulberry Tree is an exhibition centred around interdisciplinary artist Molly Grad’s practice exploring intergenerational trauma and the binds that prevent society from breaking away from the binary, the violent, and the invisible. The core of the artist’s research and practice is a transformational study of how the individual becomes the collective and approaches trauma to generate gateways, awareness, and visibility – breaking free from the unspeakable and making visible what cannot be seen nor said to broach a process of collective healing.’
