The Smallest Gallery in Soho presents ‘Out-Side-In’

The gallery space is inhabited by a creature by artist Svetlana Ochkovskaya, guest curated by Olga Tarasova. Arising from the sea of pebbles, the cryptic creature simultaneously encounters passers-by and shies away blending with its natural environment.

The lighting accentuates the textured fabric of the pebbles’ outfit, as well as the warmth of its earthy tones. It emphasises the movement of the creature, rather than treating it as a static piece.

Counting on the shadows cast on the surrounding walls and ceiling, the space enclosure becomes a part of the installation, not just a room where the ‘statue’ is placed. Shadows extend beyond and above the creature, elongated, distorted, revealing, reaching in-side-out.

Up until September 2021 at 62 Dean Street, London W1D 4QF!
